I hate to disagree with your Norwich, but there is such a thing as a blue moon. I remember having watched something about it on TV. So I checked it out and found this site: http://www.infoplease.com/spot/bluemoon1.html There is a picture there too and it sure looks blue to me. Well maybe a bluely grey!!!

Well, I stand corrected! I have only ever known the phrase 'once in a blue moon' to be a figure of speech. I've never actually seen a moon of that colour. Must be something to do with the fact that all my life I've been living in Britain, where nothing exciting ever seems to happen....Well, not very often, anyway. Australia's quite a fun place, according to certain contributors to this section - Wonder if they see blue moons in Oz?

A blue moon is a term used to describe the second occuring full moon in a month. This what the site you give BB discusses. However, rarely a moon can actually look blue. This would happen after a large forest fire or volcanic eruption. This can even happen to the sun!
