If you drop a cat upside down, it will always mysteriously land on its feet. How can the animal achieve a net rotation in space without having anything to push against?

Question #25109. Asked by Nude Dude. (Dec 12 02 4:38 AM)

    Gnomon

It is possible to rotate in space by turning one part of your body in one direction and another part in the opposite direction. The cat does a complicated twist which involves it the front half going one way and the back half another. When the front feet hit the ground it straightens out.
