I found the figure of 44% on a Funny Food Fact page, so there's no telling were or when that information originated. http://www.geocities.com/heartland/plains/6271/tmrfood.html There appears to be a wide range of figures online. I would think the CBS News reference above is reliable, but since this one is radically different and appears to have a study behind it, I thought I'd throw it in. The data is from an opinion survey conducted in 2006. The sample information is at the bottom of the article.
