On March 31, 1929, Kingsford Smith, Ulm, Litchfield, and McWilliams left Sydney in the Southern Cross to fly to England but were forced down 400 kilometres from Wyndham, Western Australia. They were found on April 16. http://www.freemason.org/cfo/mar_apr_2002/twochucks.htm
