William McKinley defeated William Jennings Bryan in 1896 and again in 1900. Bryan lost for a third time in 1908, to William Howard Taft.

The following link announces the victory of Republican candidate William McKinley in the presidential campaign of 1896. McKinley handily defeated his Democratic opponent, William Jennings Bryan. McKinley would later win re-election in 1900, again against Bryan, but would be assassinated early in his second term.
