In Miami during a clear June night the temperature may fall to only 68 F. from a high of 86 F. However, at El Paso, Texas the temperature could fall as low as 50 F by morning. Why such a big difference?

It could be to do with the Gulf Stream which keeps the adjacent areas warmer. In the UK we get the benefits of this as it passes close by. We get a lot milder weather than other countries on similar latitudes

Water holds heat better than rock, so the proximity of the ocean always regulates the temperature. Central continental climates are always more extreme.
