Winds on the earth blow directly from higher-pressure areas to lower-pressure ones. True or false?

False. Winds blow roughly from high pressure to low pressure, but due to the coriolis effect, end up goind around the high pressure area in one direction and around the low pressure area in the other direction. Can't remember which is clockwise, though.

Different ways round, in the Northern and Southern hemishpere....like water down a plughole. I thinnk the winds go clockwise round high pressure zones in the Northern Hemishpere... but I haven't found anywhere that says so.
