I saw a quiz show recently which stated that 'Abbey Road' was the most frequently stolen road sign in London. Alas, I cannot remember which programme it was, nor can I find anything to substantiate this. However, the following must surely be a contender: http://www.snopes.com/photos/austria.htm

For a while it was definitely given as 'Penny Lane' in most sources, but the Liverpool authorities have opted for a painted-on sign now, to foil thieves. I wouldn't be surprised if Abbey Road was the most stolen specific name. I know people who have 'Roadworks Ahead' signs and the like, but I wouldn't like to guess which one is most popular.
