What does it mean when a woman's water breaks?

    Question #25616. Asked by Sam I Am. (Dec 27 02 3:56 PM)

    mk2norwich

A baby develops inside a membrane within a woman's uterus. This membrane contains a liquid, called amniotic fluid. When the child is ready to be born, this membrane ruptures, releasing the fluid. When this occurs, many mothers-to-be will say that their 'waters have broken'. http://www.baby-parenting.com/pregnancy/waters.html
