The date of the first official Boy Scouts of America camp in the US is uncertain. This is mainly because 'there were several other loosely-structured outdoor-oriented youth organizations some using the name 'Boy Scout' and some using other names' before the Boy Scouts organization as we know it, was founded. They were melded into the Boy Scouts organisation as a result of 'an active campaign to absorb all other Scout-type youth organizations into the BSA. Indeed, only one such organization held out past 1912%97publisher William Randolph Hearst's militaristic 'US Boy Scout' organization.' Consequently the first 'official' camp is difficult to determine. See http://www.troop97.net/bsahist1.htm#usa (This is an informative article, worth reading if you are interested.) It did occur however, sometime after Feb 8, 1910 'On February 8, 1910, Boyce and a group of outstanding leaders founded the Boy Scouts of America. From that day forth, Scouts have celebrated February 8 as the birthday of Scouting in the United States.' http://www.alliancelink.com/users/troop50/History.html#anchor258771
