Arthur Stanley Jefferson and Norvell Hardy.
Simon Louvish's "Stan and Ollie" (2001) makes it clear that Hardy was named Norvell Hardy, from his mother's maiden name, and includes evidence from his school days to that end. He took the name Oliver, after his father, at the age of 18 when he was working as a projectionist. It is implied that there may have been some subterfuge involved in the change of name, as his place of residence at the time appears to be 'a tax dodge'. He used the name Oliver M. Hardy at that point.
