The Guinness Book of Records has removed the category from their records so Barbara Blackburn reigned for 14 years according to them. It just goes to show you cannot trust the internet as the foolowing web sites have differnet claimants:- http://www.time.com/time/international/1996/960826/people.html - While most of the world was preparing for Atlanta, ABHISHEK JAIN was going for the gold in Germany--as the fastest typist in the world. The 18-year-old, who won the title in June with a world-record 135 words a minute, has been banging away at the keys since sneaking into his father's typing school in Goraya, India, at age 7. A national champion at 11, he has no plans to retire just yet. 'I have to protect my record,' Jain says, 'and every year I will better it.' http://emaninagar.com/wrp5.htm has - Abhishek Jain of Goraya, Punjab is the first and youngest typist in the country to win a gold at the INTERSTENO World Championship held at Brussels in 1991. In June 1995, he was again declared fastest typist in the world with a speed of 135 wpm.
