'The entire Constitution was written over the course of about six weeks in draft form. At that time, it was turned over to a style committee for its final language. This committee was headed by Pennsylvania's Gouverneur Morris. Since the proceedings of the Style Committee were not recorded, though, I'm not sure we can say with certainty if any one man proposed the words of the Preamble, or if it was devised and revised by the whole committee.' 'Jacob Shallus, an assistant clerk of the Pennsylvania State Assembly, was paid {$30} to transcribe the final draft of the Constitution.' http://www.usconstitution.net/constfaq_con.html
