The three in the North had all been lost (bar perhaps the one that looked West but not relevant for the question). Saruman (+ Pippin and Aragorn) used the Orthanc stone, Denethor used the Minas Tirith (Minas Anor) stone and Sauron used the Minas Ithil (Minas Morgul) stone. The Osgiliath stone had been lost. indeed.. the other one was i believe the stone of Elostirion which Elrond took back over the sea. but it was not 'active' or indeed relevant during the War of the Ring. Jan 13 03, 1:14 PM
