Middle Earth: what races were mixed to produce the umli?

    Question #26507. Asked by olorin.

    Gnomon

There seems to be no reference in the works of JRR Tolkien to Umli, but they seem to be characters in a role-playing game based on Tolkien's work. I've found mentions of them on the web, but nothing about what races they came from. I'd guess dwarves and something else, since they venerate Aule as their creator.
