The Commons subsequently sat in the Chamber of the House of Lords which meant that James Callaghan gave a maiden speech in the House of Lords twice - once when it was the House of Commons and once when it was the House of Lords.
Also, it led to considerable debate during the rebuilding as to how large the rebuilt Chamber of the Commons should be since the old Chamber couldn't fit all MPs seated. Churchill won the argument that this increased the atmosphere on major occasions and the Chamber was rebuilt exactly (almost) as it had previously been.
