How do they get the pee from skunks or cats that they use to make perfumes?

    Question #26920. Asked by student.

    Baloo55th

It's not really pee, but a product of the musk gland - and it's not cats but civets which are (confusingly) referred to as civet cats sometimes but are not felines. Can't tell you how they do it now, but they used to remove the gland in former times. They probably synthesise it now.
