    How many lakes are in the state of Minnesota?

    Although Minnesota is usually called 'The Land of Ten THousand Lakes', the namesake is selling the state short. Minnesota has about 13,000 lakes.

    The Minnesota Office of Tourism says there are 11,482 lakes in the state that are 10 acres or more in size.
