Holme's claimed a real person on his family tree. He said that his grandmother was a relative of whom?

Question #27186. Asked by roger. (Jan 26 03 6:52 PM)

    Tabby Tom

    Tabby Tom says:

In 'The Greek Interpreter', he says she was the sister of the French painter Vernet.

There was more than one Vernet, but it makes most sense to see her as the sister of Horace Vernet (1789 - 1863).

    Googling on

    'sherlock holmes' +'greek interpreter' +grandmother +vernet

    will give confirmation.
