    		This first site lists all the ranks. In peacetime the top rank is Admiral and the man or woman at the top is called the Chief of Naval Operations.

    Admiral William D. Leahy
    Admiral Ernest J. King
    Admiral Chester Nimitz
    Admiral William F. 'Bull' Halsey
