During World War II my father was taken prisoner in Italy. Family myth has always assumed that my mother found out his whereabouts from a weekly broadcast from Vatican Radio. This has now been questioned by several family members. Does anyone know if Vatican Radio, if there is there such a thing, did broadcast lists of POWs?

Couldn't say for sure if it was Vatican Radio, but Italian radio certainly broadcast POW lists on occasion, as well as lists of 'traitors' and other wanted people. (My grandfather and great-grandfather were on the 'traitor' list, since they were working for the British in North Africa...)
