Referring to the banana question, did I hear recently that scientists think within the next ten years or so, the banana might become extinct?

The theory is that bananas are seedless and have been propogated by cuttings for thousands of years. Because of this they have not developed immunity to more recent infections. There is a current fungus disease that cannot be eradicated by chemical means and this could kill off the banana.
