    Question #28981. Asked by Linus.

Top 9 Goalkeeper Transfers Of All Time according to: (says 10 but only 9 ???)
    http://red11.org/mufc/barthez.htm

    %A310.5m - A Peruzzi, Juventus to Inter Milan,June 1999
%A37.8m - F Barthez, Monaco to Manchester United, May 2000
%A37.5m - G Pagliuca, Sampdoria to Inter Milan, August 1994
    %A36m - L Marchegiani, Torino to Lazio, July 1993,
E van der Saar, Ajax to Juventus, May 1999
%A34.5m - M Taibi, Venezia to Manchester United, August 1999
%A34m - S Westerveld, Vitesse Arnhem to Liverpool, June 1999
    %A33.3m - S Simonsen, Tranmere to Everton, September 1998
%A32.25m - N Martyn, Crystal Palace to Leeds, April 1997

I think the top 2 are the answers your question Linus, unless you want the British to mean between British clubs, in which case I think you'll need number 8 in the list.

Gianluigi Buffon is the 4th most expensive player ever, and the most expensive goalkeeper, moving from Parma to Juventus (both Italian clubs), for %A332.6 million in 2001.

Amazing that Steve Simonsen is still the record between two English clubs .I saw him last week playing for Everton reserves at Newcastle and he's nowhere near the first team . I appreciate that transfer fees are often matters of conjecture , but I would have expected to see Van de Saar's move to Fulham and one or both of Richard Wright's moves ( Ipswich to Arsenal to Everton ) on the list .

s2boy and oddy correct - the above table was only correct up to mid 2000.

Gianluigi Buffon (Ita) from Parma (Ita) to Juventus (Ita) %A332.6m 2001
Francesco Toldo (Ita) from Fiorentina (Ita) to Inter Milan (Ita) %A318m 2001

Fulham's Edwin van der Sar should be in the list for his %A37 million transfer from Juventus.

Also Richard Wright did move to Everton from Arsenal for %A33.5 million (possibly rising to 4.5), originally costing the Gunners %A36 million to get him from Ipswich.

Another one - Chris Kirkland from Coventry to Liverpool . I think he cost around 5/6 million pounds .
