George C. Scott won 1 oscar for Patton and refused it in 1970 becoming the first to refuse an Oscar. Brando won in 1954 for On the Waterfront and 1972 for The Godfather refusing ONLY the latter. No one, in the major categories of Oscar, has refused it twice. If the question is true then it's in some minor insignificant category like 'best catering service.'

The Academy Award has been refused three times, by three different people. I've not found any evidence that any one person has refused to accept an Oscar twice in any category. The excerpt below does use a plural when speaking of Marlon Brando, however, he only had the one win, best actor, so it has to be a typo. 'No thank you! In 1970 George C. Scott refused the Oscar for his award-winning performance in Patton. In 1972 Marlon Brando refused the Oscars for his award-winning role in The Godfather. They weren't the first, though. In 1935 a writer named Dudley Nichols refused to accept the Oscar for his movie The Informer because the Writers Guild was on strike against the movie studios at the time. http://www.didyouknow.com/Entertainment/oscars.htm
