Did the ancient city of Atlantis ever exist?

Question #29197. Asked by Bob. (Mar 06 03 4:49 PM)

    Gnomon

If Atlantis was the Island of Santorini, then it did exist. There was an advanced civilisation living on the island of Santorini, which was destroyed in about 1450 BC by a gigantic eruption.

If Atlantis was a continent in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, then it did not exist, because there would be evidence at the bottom of the sea.
