From the site: 'One day I read on a trivia calendar that Stewart had a clause in his film contracts that allowed him to choose the hats he was to wear on screen. Curious, I decided to write him to see if this odd clause could possibly be true...He denied the hat clause, and told me he instead has a favorite hat. He found it one day in wardrobe and liked it, and wore it in his westerns. I see Tom Snyder asked Chuck Heston a question about Jimmy's headgear in his July 2 CBS program, and Heston confirmed that actors tended to find a hat they liked and kept it. Apparently it was back in the day of smaller wardrobe budgets, and actors who hailed from more frugal backgrounds, or who had clearer memories of frugal backgrounds.' http://www.mrwebber.co.uk/tales.htm Stewart had a clause written into his contract (for It's A Wonderful Life) forbidding any publicity exploitation of his exemplary war record. http://www.ozcraft.com/scifidu/iawl_funfacts.html
