    What happened to Andy Griffith's wife?

    		I always assumed that Andy Taylor was a widower. According to this site it was indirectly said in the first episode and then never mentioned again.

    		I posted this question on an Andy Griffith trivia board, and also sent a query to 'Ask an Expert.' Both replied that it was never revealed how Andy's wife died.

    		Andy Griffith's current wife, Cindi, is alive and well - nothing's happened to her so far. He and his first wife, Barbara, are divorced. Now as to Andy Taylor's wife, she died before 1960 but he later married Helen Crump.
