What was the name of the imaginary line drawn across Australia in World War II that indicated the area, north of which, Prime Minister Robert Menzies was supposedly willing to give up to the Japanese in case of attack?

    Question #29785. Asked by kerry8888. (Mar 14 03 2:13 PM)

    sequoianoir

The Brisbane line, running between Brisbane and Melbourne would have become Australia's first line of defence, was an idea of Robert Menzies.
The plan was that Japan got everything north of Brisbane.

100% correct sequoianoir - tho im not sure about it running to melbourne which is about 1000 klm due sth of brisbane. i think the line actually traversed the continent from queensland to western australia..... bit of a scary thought when you consider how close to invading oz the japanese got!
