In the movie 'The Wizard of Oz' in the scene after Dorothy and the Scarecrow find the Tinman, I've heard that someone actually committed suicide by hanging themselves and it can be seen in the movie. Is this true and where can I get a copy?

There is an interesting theory at this site:
    http://www.allfloyd.com/pinkfloyd-list/1998_1-2000_12/0730.html

    Lots of ideas below including:
If you look very closely in the scene where Dorothy and the scarecrow find the tinman, and then start skipping down the yellow brick road, you can see one of the munchkins actually hanging himself in the background of the trees.
    and
there is a disturbance in the trees off to the right. This was rumored to be one of the crew hanging himself, but is in fact an animal handler recapturing an escaped animal
    and
when all three of the characters are skipping down the yellow brick road the supposed to be hanging munchkin is really the bird spreading his wings

Take care. Some coarse answers here:

Is this the 'Hanging Munchkin' story that's doing the rounds again?

From what I've read the real story(alleged) is that MGM thought the set needed to look a lot more exotic, so they borrowed Peacocks, Pheasants and Cranes from the Los Angeles Zoo, and it's one of these birds that can be seen in the tree.
