http://encarta.msn.com/index/conciseindex/46/0468C000.htm http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/13730b.htm The following is from an article about San Diego: On Presidio Hill, at the northeast end of Old Town, is the Serra Museum, with artifacts from San Diego's early days. Farther up the hill is the site of the original Mission San Diego de Alcala, the first of California's missions, founded by Father Junipero Serra. A few years after it was built, the mission was moved 6 miles east, where it is still used daily. The original site on Presidio Hill is currently under excavation. From other sites I have found it was built in 1769 and moved in 1771
