Why are you hungry again an hour after eating Chinese food, and why doesn't that happen with other ethnic foods?

A Chinese gentleman I work with told me that this is due to the effects of monosodium glutamate (MSG), which, in addition to enhancing the flavour of food, acts as an appetite stimulant, leaving the consumer with a sensation of hunger, despite having eaten. In some people, MSG produces even less desirable effects, such as headaches and nausea.

Your Chinese friend makes a lot of sense, Norwich - Would you mind asking him if MSG is also responsible for the terrible thirst we always have after these meals? I suppose the answer is to dust off the woks, and cook the stir-fries ourselves!!

A secret Triad member was told to get MSG but misheard and took out a contract on McG (thankfully he was unsuccessful). When he realised his mistake he said that it was a slip of the Tong.

Are you guys talking about authentic Chinese food or the garbage we get in most Chinese restaurants in the west?
I really don't get to to eat the authentic, but what I eat from popular restaurants where I live is damn tasty and I don't get hungry for hours after a good meal. Only problem is that I found out most dishes I like are really fattening and sometimes very unhealthy :(
