Getting a job at an oil refinery, (one of only two blue collar jobs available in Texas) he spends his nights at Gilley's, allegedly Houston's hottest nightclub. Soon there is mutual attraction between Bud and Sissy (Debra Winger). This attraction is caused by Bud's skill on the mechanical bull.
