The longest poem in the world of heroic literature, it interweaves idealism and practical wisdom with a passionate longing for spiritual vision. The Bhagavad Gita, a symbolic dialogue between Arjuna and Lord Krishna is set on a field of battle and represents the great spiritual struggle of the human Soul. (See Mahabharata.)

    I think it is Shahnameh (Book of Kings) of Firdawsi (d. 1020)
    It has more than 60,000 rhyming couplets and is seven times the length of Homer's Iliad.

    The world's longest poem is the Mahabharata, an epic containing 100,000 couplets in some 18 books. Composed thousands of years ago in India, the Mahabharata was recently made into a TV series that became a smash hit in modern India.

    Longest poem belongs to writer and artist Nigel Tomm. Almost all of his new book "The Blah Story, Volume 8" consists of one poem which contains 98,728 words; 449,441 characters (with spaces); 23,161 lines; 728 pages. It is the longest published poem in English. The poem is called 'My Blah Story' and it is written by one novel's character.
