    In hospitals is there a ward called Nightingale, and is it were they put mental patients?

    		Nightingale wards are the older-style, long, narrow wards which still exist in many hospitals in Britain. These wards are not confined to the care of patients with mental illness or learning disabilities, but accommodate patients under any medical or surgical specialty.

    The Government currently has a programme to eradicate Nightingale wards through conversion (as well as mixed sex wards of any description) in order to improve standards of patient dignity and privacy.
