Unlikely as he attended Christs College Cambridge with the intention of being ordained into the priesthood.

Charles Darwin was a religious man but he was also a serious thinker and questioned everything he had learned. He did not accept everything in the Bible as literal truth, he was a healthy but reverent sceptic. His faith was based on this thinking and not simply on his background. He did believe that God must have designed the universe but he also had many questions.
