Pittsburgh has had the Piranhas of the Continental Basketball Association ('94-'95 season) and the Pipers in the old ABA for the '67-'68 season.

They currently have the Xplosion in the CBA (2006 to present.) In 2006, the team was with the current ABA. Before that, there was a team called the Pittsburgh Hardhats which played in the ABA from 2000-2004. The Pipers were known as the Condors during their last 2 seasons in the old ABA ('70-'72). Finally, there was an ABA team called the Pittsburgh Patriots which never played a game. As for the NBA, Pittsburgh had only one team, the Pittsburgh Ironmen, which played from 1946-47. The NBA was known as the BAA (Basketball Association of America) at the time, however.

Pittsburgh had the Pittsburgh Condos in the ABA from 1970-1972. I remember going to one of their games when I was around 10 years old. I got an official ABA ball for attending.
