When was the barbecue potato chip invented?

I'm not finding any specific history on barbecue flavoured chips, however, a Dublin-based company called Tayto was first to introduce 'Cheese and Onion' and 'Salt 'n' Vinegar' flavoured chips in the 1940s. I've just returned home from a trivia night at the first Irish Club I have ever attended to raise funds for The Children's Medical Research Foundation and by coincidence had my very first packet of Irish potato chips 'Salt 'n' Vinegar' and you wouldn't believe the {brand;} Tayto.
