Considered to be the boundary between Europe and Asia, the Bosphorus (Turkish Bogazici) Strait connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara in northwest Turkey. In celebration of Earth Day, NASA has released a new shaded relief and radar image of this geologically complex and historically rich region, taken by NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission in February 2000. Which can be seen on http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/releases/2002/release_2002_93.html

There are three pieces of water that separate European Turkey from Asian Turkey. These are: the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara and the Dardanelles. In ancient times, the Dardanelles was called the Hellespont.
