Who is said to be 'infallible'?
Question
#32791. Asked by geordie.

Tabby Tom
The Pope, when he speaks 'ex cathedra' on matters of faith or doctrine.
Friar Tuck
I may be wrong but God alone is infallible. Universally directed statements on matters of faith and morals proclaimed as doctrine of the Church, established by Jesus, by Peter and his successors are infallible due to the power of the Holy Spirit who is entrusted to guarantee the authenticity of such statements to be in accordance to the will of the Heavenly Father. the pope claims no powers of infallability or anything else in his own right. any gifts or powers bestowed on his holiness, or any of us for that matter, come from god himself through the holy spirit. catholics are welcome to question, argue and disagree with the pope on a wide range of issues. on matters of doctrine they have no choice but to obey, irrespective of personal views.
