    What are little boys made of?

    Question #32959. Asked by mother.

    Kainantu

    Snips and snails and puppy-dog {tails;}
    That's what little boys are made of.

    The line comes from the Mother Goose rhyme What Are Folks Made Of or What All the World is Made Of ? ...which consists of a total of 13 stanzas babies, boys, girls, young men, young women, sailors, soldiers, nurses, fathers, mothers, old men, old women, all folks. This includes the familiar What are little girls made of ? Sugar and spice and everything nice.

    I originally learned it as 'Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails' and some time later was introduced to the 'Snips and snails and puppy dog tails' version. I've never heard of 'Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails' though.
