Armageddon is named in Revelation as the site of the final battle between the forces of good and evil. It is generally thought to mean 'the mountain of Megiddo'. Megiddo (southwest of the Sea of Chinnereth) was a city in northern Palestine which was the site of several ancient battles. However, there is no obvious 'mountain' in the vicinity. So the exact location of Armageddon is something of a mystery.
