    Why is the 0 on a phone after 1 and not before 1?

    		When the telephone was invented the dial was used to send a number of 'clicks' down the line that matched the digit being dialed - dialing 5 sent five clicks. As no clicks meant you had not dialed yet it was decided that zero would be represented by ten clicks and to generate this with the dial mechanism it required the zero to be after the nine.
