What is light, what is it made of, how do we know, and could you trap light (theoretically)
forever in a mirror ball, and would it ever slow down or change its speed, and how do we guess that?

Light is waves, like radio waves or micro waves. Various people have done experiments to discover this-including Newton. Light cannot change its speed-even time needs to adapt so that can be the case. If there was a source of light in a mirror ball it would be trapped there, but it would also be trapped if it was an ordinary ball.

If the mirror ball mirrors were perfect mirrors, i.e. 100% reflecting, then I guess the light wave would buzz around in there for ever! But in practice at every reflection a little energy is absorbed by the mirror, so the light would fade away.
