since the terminology cahnged a number of times throughout the history of the olympics, i took the 2nd highest weight to be heavyweight and the unlimited weight to be super heavyweight. the first time they used the term heavyweight in the olympics as a weight division was in 1984 - when there were more divisions thyan there had been in previous years (2 more than in 1960). if you want to be picky - then take the frazier answer at the bottom of the posting.....

Frazier was the first Heavyweight (not super heavyweight) Olympic champion 1964, he won some sort of world title in 68 but was only universally recognized after beating Jimmy Ellis in 1970.
The first Olympic Champ of any class who became Pro Heavyweight champ was 1956 Middleweight Gold Medallist Floyd Patterson.
