    Question #34377. snsroo asks:

Does Avril Lavigne write her own songs?

    Kainantu

She writes her own songs with a few exceptions (Knockin' On Heaven's Door)

"...Antonio Reid of Arista Records signed Avril at the ripe young age of 16 and set her up in a studio in New York to start recording some songs.

Unfortunately, Avril felt the vibe wasn't right. She felt she couldn't sing other peoples' songs but wasn't working with the right producers to polish her own raw talent. So she moved to LA and met Clif Magness who helped the skater/punk rock girl find her true voice, and Avril's debut, 'Let Go,' shook up the bubble-gum-pop-dominated music scene.

With her outspoken attitude, sassy lyrics, tomboy-ish street style and all-boy backup band, Avril appeals to both teen boy and girls who are looking for a little substance in their punk-pop music. Her first single, 'Complicated,' which Avril says is about 'life, people being fake and relationships,' dominated the charts during the summer of 2002."
