    		Rutherford B. Hayes was the ONLY president of the five that served in the Civil War that was wounded. He was severely injured at the Battle of South Mountain, trapped between the lines and was mistakenly reported dead.

    		Rutherford B. Hayes was wounded at the battle of South Mountain in September, 1862, however, it was at Cedar Creek, Virginia (Belle Grove) October 19, 1864 that he was mistakenly listed dead.
