    1st year students at the Naval Academy are also called Plebes - see usna.edu/plebesum.htm and at the Air Force Academy they are called E-4s see usafa.af.mil/ceh/dorms.htm.

    I'm not a military man, but I had heard that the Navy calls their cadets -Dolies (after the Greek word for slave)...

    I have to disagree.. freshmen/4-degrees at the Air Force Academy are doolies. But the Naval Academy plebes is correct (I am friends with a lot of cadets)
