    What is the average amount of children per family?

    		In Australia, the average number of children per woman of child-bearing age has been below 2.1 for quite a number of years. 2.1 is considered to be the number required for ZPG (zero population growth) - given that some children will die before reaching maturity. This is not the same as number of children per family because not every woman of child-bearing age is a member of a family.

    		My mother always said I you have a choice between a packet of boy jelly babies and a packet of girl jelly babies, always go for the boys because you get that little bit more.

    But, then again, she's also the woman who (after six children) told me she had to use vaseline as a sex aid. She smeared it on the handle of the bedroom door so the kids couldn't get in.
