    Why is it considered rude not to put the toliet seat down?

    However, having read dozens of these articles I have concluded that the answer is because my wife and daughters say so.

    		It is not a question of etiquette but compassion. If the toilet seat is badly injured and beyond saving then it is only right that it should be put down to prevent further suffering.
