The largest spider known to man is the banana spider. It can reach a size of 70 millimeters in length, and can weigh as much as 8 ounces. This creature lives in tropical climates, and spins a web suspended in trees, usually 2 to 3 meters above the ground. Their webs are very extensive, able to trap small birds, and large insects.
